Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Opal Services has some great opportunities available for those interested in a rewarding career as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) working with adults with intellectual and mental health challenges! Opal Services has 28 group homes throughout Dakota County as well as an Hourly Services Program that supports people in the community. We serve a great group of individuals and are looking for employees that want to make a difference in the lives of others!

What is the role of the DSP?

  • Engage our service recipients in activities both in their homes and communities
  • Teach independent living skills
  • Assist with activities of daily living (personal care needs vary from home to home)
  • Assist with household responsibilities such as cooking and cleaning
  • Chart, log, and document
  • Pass medication (Med Admin training provided!)

Qualifications for the Direct Support Professional include:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Must comply with a background study; in order to maintain employment, the background study must come back “qualified”

 

Program Coordinator (PC)

Join our team as a Program Coordinator and make a positive impact in the lives of others! As a Program Coordinator with Opal Services, you will work closely with Direct Support Professionals and Program Directors to ensure that our service recipients receive the highest quality of care and support within our group homes.

What is the role of the PC?

  • Collaborate with Staff: Work alongside Direct Support Professionals to develop and implement care plans that meet the individual needs of our service recipients.
  • Operational Management: Oversee the daily operations of the assigned group home, ensuring a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment.
  • Program Development: Assist in the creation and evaluation of programs and activities that enhance the living experience of our service recipients.
  • Training and Supervision: Provide guidance and supervision to Direct Support Professionals, including training and professional development opportunities.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date, complying with all regulatory standards and requirements.

Qualifications for the Program Coordinator include:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak in fluent English
  • Must comply with a background study; in order to maintain employment, the background study must come back “qualified”
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a related field. Supervisory experience is a plus but not required.
